OW DO YOU OVERCOME the Mid-January slump when all too often your goals and resolutions fizzle out almost as fast as the magnificent fireworks display at midnight. Dazzling, magnificent and poof, gone before we can blink an eye. It looked all so grand. How could it be over so quickly? Back to normal. Whatever your normal may be right now.
Don’t let this happen to you.
How to keep the SPARKLE happening throughout the year!
Our best goals for the new year seem to fizzle out.

There are countless new fancy Planners available right now to make you really want to dig into your Goals and Actions…and keep at it for the rest of the year.[/mk_blockquote][vc_column_text p_margin_bottom=”20″ width=”1/1″ el_position=”first last”][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
Here is the Problem: You rev yourself up, you decide on action steps. But like running a car on empty you get stuck rolling out of the driveway.
How can you Reset your Resolution button? Willpower? Determination? a buddy to hold you accountable? Maybe you have tried it all, maybe some have even worked… for a while. Then somehow we reset to the default mode.
(It’s like we refresh the page on your computer but the same page come up again.)
It’s like we are preparing to run a race with our VW 1970’s beetle when we need a Ferrari!
Here is the SECRET: it is who you BECOME BEFORE you set your goals and resolutions that is the missing piece of the puzzle.
We want to reconnect with our Authentic Self, the Self that would easily go after all of these goals and take the action steps.
So maybe finding our Authentic Self is the answer? But as in a vicious loop, we are back in our VW. That’s who we are, that’s who we always be…
Let me PROPOSE TO YOU A joyfully DIFFERENT APPROACH: One that’s far more effective. One that gets us there next Dec 31st or next month and sees that we are well on the road.
DISCOVER who you need to BE and BECOME to live in your goal life. We think we can’t be or live the life of a celeb or model. It’s just way out of reach. Remember we are the VW, just ordinary.
BUT we CREATE OURSELVES. I no longer buy into the ‘authentic’ self-theory. It keeps us stuck, forever hunting to excavate that elusive ‘real’ self. As though this ‘real’ self can somehow be found, polished up and put on a pedestal. No, we are forever BECOMING. And we are the master creator of this fabulous new creation in the making. We are not the same from cradle to grave. We get to decide who we want to be.
You are the most authentic, the more you resemble what you have dreamed of being!
In other words, you become more authentically yourself, the more you take charge and create yourself!
So forget digging who your authentic self is and get busy creating yourself.
Step into that inner Ferrari and you won’t have to push the empty VW down the road to reach your next destination or follow your goals and resolution.
Here are some tasks to do just that:
1. EXCAVATE: who you think your authentic self is or was. Who you always were? Who is the self your parents or significant others said you are?
2. REALIZE: where did these notions of who you are conflict with your goals? your resolutions? your Dreams?
3. ELEVATE/UPLEVEL: Who would you have to be to not only achieve but live these goals on a daily basis?
Decide on three people you want to BE like or the life you want to live. I purposefully said BE, not admire! Most of us admire Mother Theresa or Gandhi or Nelson Mandela. But we don’t necessarily want to be them or live a life like them.
4. UNDERSTAND the most authentic people often followed models and guidelines. They IMITATED! Marilyn Monroe imitated the 1920’s It Girl, Jean Harlow. Madonna imitated Marilyn Monroe and so on. But don’t worry. You will be you. It’s just a guide to find back to your own unique potential! Remember when 10 people are asked to draw the same tree, ten very different and very unique trees are drawn. Decide what type of tree you want to be and then set out to create your version of that!
In the next Blog post let’s explore some more actions steps on how to set into motion your new BEING and Creating your new version of Yourself.
